Sterre Sprengers

Image editor of De Correspondent, researcher for the ED projects, correspondent of photography

Sterre Sprengers (Netherlands, 1984) graduated as a documentary photographer at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Then she worked for six year as the image editor-in-chief for the Dutch national newspaper nrc.next. One and a half year ago she joined the start-up of De Correspondent, a crowd-funded journalistic platform aiming to contribute to journalism’s transition into the 21st Century ecology of news. Here she tries to innovate imagery in journalistic context. And as the correspondent on photography for this platform, she writes about the manifestations of the medium. Besides that she is part of ED, a collective of young professionals from different fields of visual communication. Their first project is the book ED IT – the substantial system for photographic archive maintenance, a step-by-step manual for editing photography collections. The second project is the just finished Octagon – a Tool for Systematic Research which resulted in a poster and website publication.
