Switzerland is known for its alpine landscape which is also actively used for tourism. Located on a peninsula, surrounded by Lake Lucerne and the Central Swiss Alps, the Bürgenstock is a popular destination for local and international tourists. Located on its ridge is the Bürgenstock Resort. The first grand hotel on the mountain plateau opened as early as 1873 - so tourism on the Bürgenstock is not a new phenomenon, especially in the luxury segment. Nevertheless, there has been a lot of change in recent years: In 2014, the listed hotel complex was reconstructed into a complex of 30 buildings. The first parts of the hotel opened at the end of August 2017. It now consists of four hotels with a total of 383 rooms, many sports facilities, a 10,000 m2 spa area, a conference center and 12 restaurants and bars. The resort also has 68 residence suites. In addition, one of the hotel complexes offers medical treatments and has a rehabilitation facility. A total investment of around 500 million Swiss francs is estimated. The conference center, which is to become the future venue for the World Economic Forum (WEF), extends over 2,200 m2 and is geared towards today's work via video conferences. The room is equipped with the latest audio, light and image technology and is therefore also suitable as a live stream studio.
