First year students of the BA Camera Arts, Visual Communication of the Lucerne School of Art and Design have explored the municipality of Emmenbrücke, on the north-east side of Lucerne, Switzerland. Their creative research focussed on various visible and hidden aspects of the urban, social, cultural and political conditions.
Whether some projects are developed on the base of intense engagements with local individuals, other projects address more general aspects. For example students accompanied cleaning staff during their shifts or worked with a dance group of young girls while others documented the Ibach area or the temporary use of a vacant plot at the Seetalplatz by the creative hub NF49. Even the nearby military airbase has been explored since the jets are part of the daily life experience in Emmenbrücke. All these observations of local qualities lead to further questions that reach and are relevant far beyond the immediate scope of the town of Emmebrücke.
The projects are conducted with photographic media, communication design, offline and online publishing.
